Leesie Mappes serves as Office Manager for the TCMF, supporting the Center’s daily operations, staff, and student services. She is passionate about creating organized, welcoming environments where students and colleagues feel supported, respected, and connected to the resources they need.

Outside of work, Leesie is a devoted Star Wars, Star Trek, and Dungeons & Dragons fan who also enjoys RPG video games, baking, and exploring new places. As a cancer survivor, she is a strong advocate for cancer survivorship and for ensuring that survivors are seen as whole people beyond their diagnoses. She is also a committed supporter of neurodiversity acceptance and greater understanding, inclusion, and respect for neurodivergent individuals.

Additional Professional Activity

Before joining Furman, Leesie Mappes spent 10 years at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Morehead Planetarium and Science Center and later served as an Executive Assistant in UNC-CH’s Office of Communications. In 2004, Leesie was awarded a Fulbright Teaching Assistantship in Montpellier, France. She has also lived abroad in England and Taiwan, speaks fluent French, some Mandarin Chinese, and enjoys connecting with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
