Captain Gator Todd joined the Furman University Police Department in February 2024. Capt. Todd began his service with FUPD as an investigator for the department and was promoted to Captain over operations in September 2025. Capt. Todd retired from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) where he served for over 25 years. He was a Lieutenant in the Uniform Patrol Division of the GCSO at the time of his retirement. Capt. Todd served in the Uniform Patrol Division, Vice & Narcotics Unit, and the Directed Patrol Unit of the GCSO and he was a supervisor in both the Uniform Patrol Division and Vice & Narcotics Unit. Capt. Todd also spent 19 months in Kosovo from 2003 to 2005 training Kosovo Police Officers and working with International Police Officers. Capt. Todd has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Clemson University and Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Anderson University. Capt. Todd is also a certified Driving Instructor, Firearms Instructor, and Basic Instructor through the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy (SCCJA).
