Claire Griffith is a Psychology and Spanish major from Greenville, SC. Her past experiences include working in Furman’s development office as a phonation caller, volunteering at Neighborhood Focus, and serving as an active member of her sorority Kappa Delta. In her free time, Claire enjoys spending her time with her friends and family, running, reading, and drinking a cup of coffee.

Claire has taken advantage of multiple engaged learning opportunities such as internships and study away. In 2019, Claire traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark to study the sociological and psychological factors that contribute to making Denmark one of the happiest countries in the world. When she returned, she worked as an ABA Therapist at Agapi Behavioral Consultants. She also spent a semester in Madrid, Spain where she was fully immersed in the language and culture.

In her own words...

Engaged learning at Furman offers opportunities that learning in a classroom does not. With the Furman Advantage, I have been able to step outside of my comfort zone, travel the world, learn a new language, and apply concepts that I learned in the classroom to real-life situations. I can piece together all of my knowledge gained from these diverse experiences in order to give back to the world in some way. My favorite thing about the Furman Advantage is each person’s experience is unique to themselves. Whatever you are passionate about, there is an opportunity for you. And if you’re not sure yet, then there are options that allow students to find their passions. Thanks to Engaged Learning, I will leave Furman looking at the world from a new perspective and confidently embark on any journey that I chose.
