Brynton Lett brings to Furman over 10 years of higher education experience including residence life, academic advising, career development and other student support roles. His passion for student development began at the University of Georgia, where he completed his undergraduate degree. He went on to get his master’s degree from Longwood University in Virginia where he advised student organizations, provided academic support for student-athletes, and coordinated multicultural programming across campus.

Lett completed his doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. As a first-generation college student, he is passionate about supporting students from underrepresented and marginalized identities. As a counselor in the Trone Center for Mental Fitness, his mission is to provide compassionate and personalized support to all students. His approach to counseling is person-centered and trauma informed. Outside of Furman, he is the owner and primary therapist of a small private practice that specializes in LGBTQ+ concerns, men’s issues, career counseling, life transitions, and relationships.
