Alexis Carter Thomas is an ordained minister and ministry consultant. She holds a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School, and a Doctor of Ministry degree with a concentration in Women's Religious Leadership from Drew Theological School. Her published doctoral research is titled: “The Eight Week Womanist Workshop: Can Womanist Theology be a Source of Liberation for Black Churchwomen?”

Alexis’s professional experience includes work in higher education and congregational leadership. She has worked on five different college campuses in areas ranging from residential life to student affairs. Her research interests include Hebrew Bible, Womanist Theology, and that which is related to spiritual formation.

Through her work in spiritual life and engagement with various community initiatives, Alexis seeks to bear witness to life-giving possibilities. She believes that beloved community is possible. She drinks coffee daily. Alexis lives with her husband and son in a small town in South Carolina.
