Alexandra Aradas
Hearst Fellow
- Hometown: Rock Hill, SC
What do you plan to study?
Political Science and Business
Why did you want to be a Hearst Fellow?
I went into college knowing I wouldn’t be able to afford certain long-term dreams, such as studying abroad. Hearst Fellows made this a realistic opportunity, as well as gifting me with a community I would feel safe in and a social network that works to be artistically rounded. It would also help to feed my passions of politics and creative writing — inspiring me artistically and helping me to create new material that I can put out into my community.
What has coming to Furman meant to you?
I never once thought I'd be going to school in state. I applied to Furman without thinking much about it, but it ended up being my home. Rejection that was once heartbreaking to me ended up being redirection. I couldn't picture myself anywhere else.
What do you like to do you in your spare time?
Talk about and/or listen to Taylor Swift, drink coffee, cross stitch, watch the scream franchise (while doing a puzzle), obsess over my cat.
What organizations are you a part of?
Hearst Fellows, Eco Reps, Engaged Living, Heller Service Corps
