Lieutenant Alan Johnson joined the Furman University Police Department in October 2021. Prior to his service with Furman, he was a member of the Greenville Police Department where he served for 23 years, before retiring as a Lieutenant in the Special Support Services Division. During his tenure with the Greenville Police Department, he served in several capacities, including uniform patrol, the traffic unit, K-9 handler, patrol sergeant, traffic sergeant, and patrol lieutenant. Lieutenant Johnson has nearly 30 total years in law enforcement which includes time with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office in Sarasota, Florida. Lieutenant Johnson will serve as a Patrol Lieutenant for the Furman Police Department.
