Dr. Al Mina is a visiting Associate Professor in the Masters of Science in Community Engaged Medicine program. After earning his medical degree at MUSC, he completed a residency in Family Medicine in Memphis, Tennessee. He continued in that program as an instructor for three years, after which he joined a Family Medicine practice in Travelers Rest. He began his undergraduate teaching career at Erskine College. He primarily taught courses in Human Anatomy & Physiology and Neuroscience for 18 years in the Biology Department, serving as chair for three years. Additionally he advised students with interest in the health professions. He has taught A&P and Biochemistry in the MSCEM program since 2023. His primary area of interest in in preparing student for careers in medicine through his courses and personal experience.
Al's hobbies/interests include travel, hiking, gaming, and spending time with his granddaughter.
