Planetarium Shows
Did you know that Furman has its own planetarium? Come and view the heavens from the comfort of the indoors! First come, first served seating (max seating available: 30). There are two scheduled shows, each expected to run for 45 minutes. The first will start at 3 p.m. and the second will start at 4 p.m. Once a show has begun, entry into the room will be denied to limit light exposure and distraction from the show.
Directions to the Planetarium via Main Campus
From Poinsett Highway (US 276 West), take the exit toward Furman University and enter campus through the main gates. At the first traffic circle, take the 5th exit and proceed down the Furman Mall. Midway down the Furman Mall take a left and park into the Daniel Chapel parking lots. The closer can park to the Daniel Chapel building, the better. Proceed towards the James B. Duke library along the Milford Mall. Once on the Milford Mall, the Charles H. Townes Science Center is the first building on your left. Enter the building from the Milford Mall and proceed upstairs. Take a right at the top of the stairs, and the Planetarium will be the final classroom at the end of the hall on the right-hand side. Members of the Physics Department will be on hand to help direct you and answer your questions.
Directions to the Planetarium via Timmons Arena Gate (South Gate)
From Poinsett Highway (US 276 West), take the exit toward Timmons Arena and Paladin Stadium. Turn onto Old Buncombe Road and then turn right onto Duncan Chapel Road. Continue for roughly half a mile and turn right onto Timmons Drive through the Timmons Arena gate. Proceed past Timmons Arena and the Paladin Stadium and make a right onto Cherrydale Lane. Proceed into the traffic circle and take the first exit onto the Furman Mall. Then turn right into the Daniel Chapel parking lots. The closer can park to the Daniel Chapel building, the better. Proceed towards the James B. Duke library along the Milford Mall. Once on the Milford Mall, the Charles H. Townes Science Center is the first building on your left. Enter the building from the Milford Mall and proceed upstairs. Take a right at the top of the stairs, and the Planetarium will be the final classroom at the end of the hall on the right-hand side.
