Furman students surprise special needs adults with bags full of love
For the last 15 years, Heller Service Corps at Furman University has hosted its Valentine’s Day Dance for Exceptional Adults that traditionally draws 300 people, including Furman students and organizing staff. To keep everyone safe this year while the COVID-19 vaccine is rolling out, the event is postponed, but Heller Service Corps is committed to keeping things festive. The group prepared 150 gift bags full of Valentine’s treats for special needs adults who are associated with Thrive Upstate. WSPA News 7 was there when the gifts arrived and spoke to Furman student Addison Smith ’22.
