The Trump administration and Iranian nuclear enrichment

The United States is to blame for the escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran, and for Iran’s likelihood for developing a nuclear weapon in the near future, according to Furman University’s Akan Malici, a politics and international affairs professor. Citing Iran’s homeland security concerns, President Trump’s pull back from the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and the little-known U.S. coup against Iran in 1953, Malici says it’s rational for Iran to move toward a nuclear approach to defend itself.
