Furman graduate and former Paladin football player Sam Wyche ’66 battled 15 years with cardiomyopathy before receiving a heart transplant in September 2016. The former Cincinnati Bengals head coach says getting a new lease on life rearranges priorities. In a story by Brennan McDavid of WYFF News, Wyche said his mission now is to recover at his Pickens County home and to spread the word about organ donation. “This is a mission for me to make sure there isn’t one person that hasn’t at least asked themselves, Why don’t I become an organ or tissue donor?  Why don’t I try to save someone else’s life?” he said.
