Greenville Glows Purple for Furman’s Bicentennial
Greenville is glowing purple in honor of Furman University’s 200th anniversary.
From now through Sunday, the area around Liberty Bridge at Falls Park and the County Administration Building will be illuminated in Furman purple, beginning at dusk each night.
Paladins in town for Homecoming can stop by throughout the weekend to take photos and celebrate Furman’s bicentennial against a purple-hued Greenville backdrop.
“We are deeply grateful for Furman’s longstanding partnership with the City of Greenville and Greenville County, and we’re honored that both are helping celebrate our bicentennial and Homecoming by illuminating the area around Liberty Bridge at Falls Park and the County Administration Building in purple,” said Liz Seman, Furman’s chief of staff and vice president for community and government relations. “This gesture holds special meaning because Furman’s story is woven into the very landscape of our community.”
The purple lights celebrate 200 years of Furman history and the university’s enduring connections to Greenville and Greenville County.
