Among Travel and Leisure’s “20 Best Destinations for Fall,” Furman University’s hometown of Greenville, South Carolina, makes the grade. The smallish, unassuming town at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains is in good company. Other destinations on the roster include Kyoto, Japan; Sonoma, California; Burmuda; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; prime Northern Lights viewing spot Yellowknife, Canada; Tuscany, Italy, and other stunners.

So why Greenville? T+L gives a nod to Greenville for its leaf-peeping quotient at nearby state parks, fine dining, craft breweries, the Grand Bohemian Lodge overlooking Reedy Falls, and the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail that meanders 32 miles from Travelers Rest, to downtown Greenville and beyond. A segment also skirts the campus of Furman University. Lyn Riddle of The State also pens words about the T+L recognition.
