Furman University’s Liz Smith, a professor of politics and international affairs and assistant faculty director of the Cothran Center, joined a panel of experts to weigh in on WalletHub’s survey about the “Best and Worst States for Women.” Smith responded to questions about key factors for choosing a state home, what a state-level policy agenda should include, issues concerning equal pay and reproductive rights, and what companies can do to improve the workplace environment for women. For the latter, she said, “Company policies that improve workplace conditions for women also improve workplace conditions for men.”
