Furman’s Dubash featured in SC INBRE news
Furman University’s Adi Dubash, an associate professor of biology, was featured in SC INBRE Weekly, a newsletter of the South Carolina IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence. Dubash, a 2023 recipient of an R15 grant from the National Institutes of Health, has received a $100,000 Administrative Supplement to fund equipment related to the original grant.
Dubash and undergraduate researchers study a special cell protein that controls cells’ ability to latch onto and migrate on the extracellular matrix, or the scaffolding-like structures that surround cells within tissues. He said the research “will provide important insights into how the attachments between cells control their migratory behavior,” key to a better understanding of wound healing and tissue repair.
SC INBRE is a program established by the NIH to enhance research capacity by expanding and networking research activities of faculty and students at academic institutions throughout South Carolina.
