A new coworking space, Switchyards, is set to open in the Village of West Greenville Oct. 28, and two Furman University alumni are behind the effort. Brooks Buffington, chief operating officer and 2013 accounting alumnus, and Brandon Hinman, creative director for Switchyards and a 2003 philosophy graduate, were featured in an Upstate Business Journal article. Billed as the “world’s first neighborhood work club,” the concept crafted by CEO Michael Tavani can be found in 18 other locations in Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Memberships to the 5,300 square-foot Greenville club with “dangerously fast internet,” “bottomless coffee and tea,” and “no less than 137 lamps” are available Oct. 24.
