Niche names Furman among Best Liberal Arts Colleges in America

The education resource website Niche has ranked Furman University the 41st best liberal arts college in America.

Furman also ranked:

  • 21st Best College with No Application Fee in America
  • 31st Best College Campus in America
  • 46th Best Small College in America
  • 1st Private University in South Carolina
  • 1st Best Small College in South Carolina
  • 1st Best College Campus in South Carolina

Niche uses a combination of publicly available data and survey results to compile its ranking and grades. Furman received an A for academics and an A-minus for professors, dorms, student life, the campus and campus food.

This year, Furman received a record number of applications this year: 10,813 high schoolers applied to be a Paladin; 4,645 were admitted and 616 enrolled. This year’s acceptance rate, 42.96%, is lower than the 67% reported by Niche.

Earlier this year Furman was included in Princeton Review’s “The Best 390 Colleges” and was noted for its green campus. Furman ranked 46th among national liberal arts colleges in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges edition.
