Following the Sept. 10 presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, pop superstar Taylor Swift endorsed Harris on social media platform Instagram where Swift boasts 284 million followers. The Post and Courier ran a story about the impact of Swift’s move and turned to Furman University’s Danielle Vinson for comment. Vinson, a professor of politics and international affairs, said the celebrity endorsement may not change many minds, but it could drive people to register and go to the polls this November. Vinson also weighed in on the timing of Swift’s post and how it became part of the post-debate conversation.
