Hundreds gathered at Furman University’s Daniel Recital Hall Tuesday, Sept. 10, to view the first presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. Local TV stations WYFF (NBC) and WHNS (FOX Carolina) covered the watch party sponsored by the Department of Communication Studies’ Brandon Inabinet, member of the On Discourse advisory group. Both stations spoke with students about voting, the issues and their impressions of the debate. Furman’s Brent Nelsen, the Jane Fishburne Hipp Professor of Politics and International Affairs, joined WYFF’s Nigel Robertson on set to offer post-debate commentary.
