Furman University’s Danielle Vinson, a politics and international affairs professor, was quoted in The Post and Courier about the race in South Carolina’s Third Congressional District between Sheri Biggs and Donald Trump-endorsed pastor Mark Burns. Biggs narrowly won the contest in a June 25 runoff by walking a delicate line between campaigning on her conservative messaging versus gender. Vinson explained why leveraging gender over platform in the Republican Party can be a tricky proposition.
