Riley Institute part of effort to create two new innovative high schools in South Carolina
KnowledgeWorks, an education foundation based in Cincinnati, Ohio, is working with the Riley Institute at Furman and other organizations to create two new innovative high schools along the I-95 corridor in South Carolina through a $2.9 million Investing in Innovation (i3) grant.
In November, KnowledgeWorks was selected as one of 23 grant finalists by the U.S. Department of Education. The proposed project involves the Clarendon 1 and Colleton County school districts, and would create two STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)-focused New Tech High Schools along the I-95 corridor in South Carolina.
Matt Williams, senior director of national advocacy and partnerships at KnowledgeWorks, wrote an op-ed about the project for The State newspaper in Columbia.
