Learning by Design Studios: Designing Equitable Multiple Choice Questions

Using multiple choice assessment questions can be an effective and efficient way to assess learning outcomes. A multiple choice question consists of a problem, known as the stem, and a list of suggested solutions, known as alternatives. This brief LBD Studio highlights effective strategies to ensure your multiple-choice questions are constructed to most effectively measure learning outcomes without privileging certain groups of learners over others.
All LBD Studios are available on-demand through the FDC Commons Moodle site. Please email us (fdc@furman.edu) if you do not have access.
