
International students at Furman experience barriers to learning that students educated in the U.S. do not. The goal of this Lunch & Learn session is to help faculty understand the barriers to learning that English Language Learner (ELL) students face related to reading and writing. A panel of international students will share their experiences, a Writing and Media Lab consultant will provide faculty with tools for assisting international students, and faculty will practice applying those tools to their own courses. Faculty should bring a reading or writing assignment (with grading criteria) that they can work on.
