Native American Studies Reading Circle Spring Semester Series

April 19, 2025 @ 3:45 pm - 4:45 pm

Three Native American individuals in traditional ceremonial clothing.Furman’s Land Acknowledgement challenges us to learn from the Cherokee and other Indigenous people.  In this reading circle, we want to learn how Indigenous people in the United States have contributed to a wide array of disciplines and subjects in which Furman faculty teach and research.  Once a month, we’ll look at one article, chapter, or other short work written or created by an Indigenous person and discuss the work.  Our goal is to learn more about the contributions of Indigenous people to our areas of interest and consider how these works might inform our teaching and research.

This program is a partnership between the Faculty Development Center and Danielle Vison, professor of politics and international affairs, and Helen Lee Turner, professor of religion.

Meetings: January 15, February 19, March 19, April 16, 3:45-4:45 p.m.
Location: Duke Library Haynsworth Room (Room 128)

For more information and to sign-up for the reading circle, email Danielle Vinson.
