Fall 2024 Reading Circle: Subtract: The Untapped Science of Less

September 5, 2024

What do the Embarcadero, the end of apartheid, and climate change mitigation progress have in common?  According to Leidy Klotz, they were all achieved by subtraction. In academia we are notoriously bad at this: we are more likely to say “yes,” than to strategically say “no”. It is difficult for us to subtract from our growing to-do lists, which can dampen our thriving and/or keep us from achieving the goals we set for ourselves.

Join us in our Fall 2024 Reading Circle featuring Klotz’s book  Subtract: The Untapped Science of Less. We will meet for conversation three times, 2-3:15 p.m., in the Duke Library Pitts Room (Room 203) September 13, September 27, and October 11.  If you have received a book from the FDC, we ask that you strive to attend all three of our planned discussions.

We are excited to share that this event is now fully subscribed. If you have your own personal copy of the text, please join us for our conversations!  Email [email protected] to be included in meeting invitations and follow-up emails.
