Meet Ashlyn: One Of Our Newest Social Media Interns

Introduction:

Hey y’all! My name is Ashlyn King and I’m a freshman from Dallas, Texas hoping to pursue a major in Business on the entrepreneurship track. I am one of admission’s new social media interns and I can’t wait to share a little bit about me and eventually, life at Furman with all of you!

My Hobbies and Interests:

To start, I absolutely love Furman University and couldn’t imagine a better place to call home. While being here, one of my favorite things to do has been finding fun new hobbies, community organizations, and university programs to join. Some of those involvements are The Bee Club, where I am learning to bee keep, Heller Service Corps, where I get involved by serving in the community, and Young Life, where I train to be a leader for high school students.

When I am not on campus, I find joy in outdoor activities, like hiking, skiing, paddleboarding, and watching sunsets. Winter Park, Colorado is my second home, so I enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors in the Rocky Mountains. As for sunsets, Texas sunsets are unbeatable, but I still try to catch a glimpse of at least one everywhere I go.

I also love shopping, (I have found Downtown Greenville to be an excellent location for this), and doing any random craft, like jewelry making, baking, and patchwork t-shirts. Another thing Greenville is great for is coffee, and I like to think that I am a coffee connoisseur. One of my goals while being at Furman is to try every coffee shop and rate them all. My personal favorite flavors are iced lavender lattes, mochas, and cappuccinos, and so far my favorite Greenville coffee shops are daydrinkers, and Old Europe, but I still have many more to try. 

My Future Plans:

The future is my biggest motivation in life. To me, success means happiness, so I aspire to love what I do wholeheartedly in the future. As of right now, I am planning on studying business and entrepreneurship in hopes of owning my own business one day. What is that business exactly? I’m not sure yet, but I am so excited to see what ideas I come up with and how I can bring them to life. One of my childhood dreams that I still have to this day, is to travel the world, so I hope to incorporate that into my business as well.

I also have a passion for social media, which is why I am so excited about my social media internship! I find it so fascinating and love that we have the ability to share our lives with others and communicate in such a fun way. In the past couple of years, I have done some research and experimenting with different platforms, and I would love to incorporate social media into my career somehow.
