Happy Halloween! Here at Furman, Halloween is one of our favorite holidays. All across campus, spooky season sets in as the leaves turn red in late October. Here’s more about what Halloween at Furman has to offer!

Every year, the Furman University Student Activities Board (FUSAB) plans a Haunted Trail to get students in the spooky spirit. The theme changes annually, and this year the trail is titled “A Night at the Sinister Circus.” Students took a trip through a haunted carnival with scary clowns and spooky circus acts at the Amphitheater! For a calmer Halloween experience, those not wanting to partake in the scare enjoyed fresh popcorn and cotton candy while watching an outdoor showing of “Halloweentown.” Past haunted Trails have had themes such as “Petrified in Plyler-a Haunted Laboratory” and “The Living Dollhouse!” This event is always a success and never fails to bring the Furman community together!

Trick or Treat! The Dining Hall always gives us something good to eat! Our dining staff takes the Halloween season very seriously. They whip up themed meals, sides, and desserts. It’s always so fun to enjoy a nice lunch or dinner while maintaining the Halloween spirit. Not to mention the humongous skeleton statue they assemble in the middle of the dining hall! The staff always has so much fun executing all of these special spooky ideas for us.

If you want to go off campus to enjoy the Halloween season, Greenville has much to offer! There are many trick or treat events, scary movie showings, and costume parties to be found all over town the week of Halloween. For kids, families, or anyone who wants a lighthearted evening, the Greenville Zoo hosts their annual ‘Boo in the Zoo!’ Dress up in your best costume and visit the animals of the zoo plus some spooky decor and activities. It’s a guaranteed fun time for the whole family! For people more into the real scares, MadWorld’s Haunted Attractionscan be found just 30 minutes away from campus! Visitors can walk through a clown house, a witch village, a zombie outbreak, a haunted asylum, and more! They also offer mini golf, axe throwing, and other carnival games for those who don’t want to get the full horror experience.

There is something for everyone at Furman and in Greenville! Happy Halloween!
