The Malone Center for Career Engagement educates, prepares and connects students to pursue meaningful careers.
Through this campaign, donors can endow funds that:
- Strengthen student career support, including through professional-in-residence programs, alumni expert panels, networking events with alumni and employers in all academic programs/majors, and curated career-exploration technologies.
- Expand student participation in our Career Treks, which bring students to top companies across the nation for career discussions and professional development, reversing the traditional employer engagement model.
- Support outstanding students with demonstrated need in securing interview attire, traveling for job/graduate school interviews and engaging in professional development.
- Invest in our Malone Center student ambassadors program to expand their outreach and marketing to all our students and their own high-impact career-readiness experiences.
This endowed fund supports the Malone Center by providing resources and operational funding to academic departments as they implement career and professional development programs that align with the specific needs of their students in various majors. This includes supporting professional-in-residence programs, alumni expert panels, industry-specific speakers and networking events in all academic programs/majors.
- Goal: $500,000

This endowed fund supports efforts by the Malone Center to provide specialized resources and programs that relate to the industry-specific interests and projected career pathways of Furman students. Students benefit from opportunities to explore various occupations and paths through self-guided learning via curated career tools and technologies, engaging in networking opportunities with alumni, employers, graduate school representatives and career professionals, as well as participating in Malone Center-led workshops in class, panels featuring particular career paths, and boutique networking events and fairs.
- Goal: $1,500,000

This endowed fund would provide a larger percentage of Furman’s student body with the opportunity to experience Career Treks. Students benefit by engaging in career exploration and professional development in real time by visiting top companies across the nation. This program is a cornerstone to creating more equitable access to alumni networks, mentors and employers, reversing the traditional employer engagement model by taking the students to the companies and mentors. The average cost per Trek is $10,000 to $15,000, depending on the location.
- Goal: $1,500,000

This endowed fund would help to level the playing field and ensure that all Furman students have the financial resources to pursue their career goals. These funds would provide scholarships to underserved students with demonstrated need to purchase interview attire, pay travel expenses for job/graduate school interviews, and have access to additional professional development opportunities.
- Goal: $1,500,000

This endowed fund supports a team of Malone Center student ambassadors who assist with outreach and marketing to student organizations, create and deliver group presentations, design programs, and manage events. Career Ambassadors not only provide services and experiences for the student body as a whole, but they also are supervised and mentored by career professionals in the Malone Center and provided with a high impact experience to enhance their own career readiness skills.
