Central to The Furman Advantage is the four-year pathway which begins with the Pathways Program®, a unique 2-year program required for first-year students and sophomores. Students take a one-credit hour course each semester they are on campus for their first two years at Furman.
In the first year, students meet with their advisor and a peer mentor to discuss skills such as time management, stress management, and reflection. In the second year, students identify engaged learning experiences that will help prepare them for their career goals, create a resume, and have an informational interview with an alumnus. They also discuss leadership and learn to tell their story.
After these first two years, juniors and seniors continue their pathway at the department level, where information builds on what students learn in years one and two, tailored to their specific majors.
Through CLEARLY FURMAN, donors can invest in endowed funds that aim to bring the four-year pathway to life for every student, including programs that will:
- Support Furman’s innovative Pathways Program®.
- Dramatically increase high-impact internship opportunities for students with financial need.
- Strengthen our extensive global experiences that build transferable knowledge and skills.
- Expand mentoring and advising programs that are critical to guiding students toward lasting fulfillment and success.
This endowed fund supports staffing of the Pathways Program®, including hiring faculty, ongoing faculty and staff development, and program activity and operations support.
- Goal: $40,000,000
