This endowed position ensures best-in-class licensed professional leadership to develop, implement and enhance emotional health and wellbeing programs and services central to student success.
This endowed fund supports ongoing health programming and promotions to improve student wellness and emotional health and give them tools to help them develop habits of healthy self-care for life. Furman believes in educating the whole student, and knows the experience outside the classroom not only supports a student’s academic and personal success while in college, but also prepares them for life beyond graduation.
The PAC vision is to become a hub of healthy student, faculty and staff interaction that serves as home base for intramural and club sports, fitness, and the Health Sciences Academic Department, Furman’s largest academic major and center for health and wellbeing research. Recognizing the physical health directly impacts emotional health, a renovation and expansion of the Herman W. Lay Physical Activities Center is needed to meet the demand for a more expansive integrative fitness and recreation center with additional classrooms, exercise rooms and labs.
