Furman 2-2 in Palmetto Tournament

University to dedicate John S. Roberts Field October 17
Furman University will honor Head Rugby Coach John Roberts by naming the field he coaches on his honor. Roberts helped co-found the rugby men's program and has served as an inspirational coach and mentor to many Furman players. Along the way he's compilled a 133-40-1 record and collected three national titles and five Rugby South Championships. In 2007-08, Roberts and a group of alumni and parents raised funds needed to construct the Furman Rugby Stadium. The dedication will be held 10 a.m. at the rugby field. It will be followed by the annual FROG (Furman Rugby Olde Guys) vs. Furman game.

A profile of Furman Rugby Coach John Roberts is featured in the May/June issue of Rugby Magazine. The two-page article details Roberts' rugby resume and chronicles the success of the Furman Rugby program which includes three national titles, five South Championhips and the construction of rugby stadium.
