In addition to serving as the bassoon instructor for Furman University, Lauren Piccirillo Waid teaches privately in the Upstate, serves as the wind coach for the Greenville County Youth Orchestra, and is the bassoon instructor at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. Lauren has performed with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, Asheville Symphony Orchestra, Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Louisville Orchestra, Richmond (IN) Symphony Orchestra, Springfield (OH) Symphony Orchestra, Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, and many others. Lauren taught at Franklin College, IN for six years, where she was a full-time professor of Music Theory and Applied Woodwinds. Lauren has taught private piano and woodwind lessons for over twenty years, and she has also designed programs for and taught preschool music and upper elementary Montessori music. Lauren taught at Cincinnati’s prestigious Walnut Hills High School, where she grew the bassoon studio from one to eight bassoonists within five years. She served as Music Chair for the Three Arts Scholarship board, where she had the pleasure of awarding many college-aged musicians significant scholarships. Lauren is a member of the International Double Reed Society. She also makes and sells her own bassoon reeds and was cofounder of Double or Nothing Reeds, LLC.
