For more than a decade, we have pioneered sustainable practices and education in a campus environment, as well as guided our community toward a more sustainable future. By integrating sustainability into everything we do, we believe that we’re developing global citizens with the knowledge and tools to live a more sustainable lifestyle.
Our master plan, Sustainable Furman, was passed unanimously by the Board of Trustees in 2009. The plan includes the university’s Climate Action Plan targeting carbon neutrality by 2026, the year of our bicentennial. Through this fundamental goal, we have created a campus-wide culture of conservation.
As a sustainability leader in higher education, Furman is a member of several organizations aiming to reduce their environmental footprint.
