The community-based research arm of the Center for Applied Sustainability Research builds upon Furman’s rich history of community partnerships and fosters the development of new collaborations that enhance student learning (through teaching and research) and contribute to the greater good. In interdisciplinary teams of faculty, community members, and students we leverage spatial analysis (GIS), data analytics, and community input to deeply examine community issues and promote social equity. These collaborations provide the opportunity for students, faculty, and community partners to learn from one another, address community needs, and leverage community assets and expertise.
