The Advance Team for The Riley Institute at Furman University\u00a0hosted a discussion<\/a>\u00a0about public education policy featuring three thought leaders from the field including OnTrack Greenville Executive Director Edward Anderson, former South Carolina Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman, and author and Professor Josh Cowen from Michigan State University.\u00a0FOX Carolina News<\/a>\u00a0covered the event.<\/div>\n

\n\u201cIt\u2019s great to know that there<\/span><\/span>\u00a0are students who are interested<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in public policy and particular<\/span><\/span>\u00a0education policy,\u201d Spearman said. \u201cSo that\u2019s why I<\/span><\/span>\u00a0wanted to make sure to be here<\/span><\/span>\u00a0tonight to encourage them to<\/span><\/span>\u00a0learn as much as they can about<\/span><\/span>\u00a0what\u2019s going on and also to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>encourage them as they leave<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Furman\u00a0to become very involved<\/span><\/span>\u00a0as a voter, as a person who<\/span><\/span>\u00a0knows what the issues are, and<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to get their thoughts to the<\/span><\/span>\u00a0general assembly wherever they<\/span><\/span>\u00a0may be living or their local<\/span><\/span>\u00a0school board.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
