Mitchell. Boroughs took the reins in October as Don Gordon, founding executive director, stepped down. Gordon will focus on fundraising for the institute during his retirement. Education reporter Mitchell explored the rich history and statewide benefit of The Riley Institute, which launched in 1999 as a \u201cone-man shop\u201d and was named for Richard Riley \u201954, two-time South Carolina Governor and U.S. Secretary of Education during the Clinton administration.<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-quick-view-block-content\">\n<p>Boroughs, a 2002 psychology graduate, said his goal is to grow the impact of the institute on both students and the community.
