The award, which was presented by former South Carolina governor and U.S. Secretary of Education Dick Riley, recognizes achievements that advance social and economic progress in South Carolina. Ten years in the making, the Northside Initiative is an ongoing neighborhood revitalization effort to spur economic prosperity, increase quality affordable housing, improve access to healthy food and promote positive health outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>The award was presented at the Building OneSouthCarolina forum in Columbia on May 10.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.postandcourier.com\/spartanburg\/news\/spartanburgs-northside-initiative-honored-by-furmans-riley-institute\/article_b4465b40-d0b4-11ec-abcb-d30191fe1e10.html\">The Post and Courier<\/a>\u00a0was there to cover the story.
