Speaker & Award Events

Each year, the Riley Institute presents high-quality symposia, individual speaker events, and leadership award events on Furman’s campus and across South Carolina. Our policy-focused events on campus build knowledge as they offer diverse perspectives on issues critical to progress in the state, nation, and world. As they engage in informal conversations and build connections with visiting speakers, students experience first-hand the impact of networking and of applying academics to real-world situations.

Our award events recognize three avenues of impact: legislative and civic leadership, diversity champions, and highly effective initiatives supporting public education. These award events drive home the Institute’s belief that progress requires leadership, innovation, and a commitment to working together to address our state’s challenges.
