Officer Greg Smith joined the Furman University Police Department in 2021.  Prior to his service with Furman, he was a member of the Greenville Police Department where he served for 23.5 years before retiring as a captain in the Criminal Investigation Division.  During his tenure with the Greenville Police Department, Officer Smith served in a variety of roles to include front-line, supervisory, and command-level positions in: Special Services, Vice and Narcotics, K9 Services, Operations, and Internal Affairs.  Officer Smith has approximately 26 years of policing experience, holds a bachelor of arts degree in Criminal Justice from Columbia College (magna cum laude) and a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Anderson University.
