In selecting courses, our Curriculum Committee assesses the topic and content, course organization, the instructor&#8217;s teaching experience and content expertise, and the suitability, variety, and balance of the proposed offering. The instructor&#8217;s availability, previous class evaluations (when applicable), recommendations, and level of professional and educational achievement in the particular subject area are all considered.<\/p>\n<p>OLLI@Furman offers four terms each academic year: Fall Term of nine weeks, Winter and Spring Terms of eight weeks each, as well as, a 4-week Summer Term. Courses commonly meet for 90 minutes once a week for the entire term. <strong>Proposal Forms should be submitted by the deadline designated for each term and are available on the Forms page below.\u00a0<\/strong> You may submit a form electronically or you may request a print form in the OLLI office. Submission form deadline dates can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/osher-lifelong-learning-institute\/member-resources\/term-schedules\/\">Term Schedules page here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Subcommittees will review all courses within their specific discipline and recommend courses for each term. Electronic submission is preferred as it saves a great deal of time.\u00a0 Do expect that your course description or biography may be edited for space requirements.<\/p>\n<p>OLLI@Furman does not pay our instructors; however, there are some perks! An OLLI@Furman membership is a perk of being an instructor. Among other things, it offers you access to the Furman Libraries, a great resource for course research. You will receive a honorarium ($100\/8-9 week course, $50\/4 week course) as a small token of our appreciation for each term taught. You may choose to defer the honorarium as a contribution to the OLLI Support Fund which helps pay for scholarships, special materials and equipment needed by the program throughout the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do you have a desire to enrich the lives of lifelong learners?
