Information Technology Services also maintains the inventory of University-owned computers.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The University generally purchases a new computer for one of these reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>replacement of a computer on a budgeted\u00a0replacement cycle,<\/li>\n<li>an approved addition to University&#8217;s inventory of computers on the replacement cycle, or<\/li>\n<li>a computer purchased with grant funding (generally not added to a replacement cycle)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>The University purchases Energy Star compliant equipment when possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Replacement cycle<\/strong><br \/>\nClassroom computers\u00a0and computer labs are replaced after three years. Other University computers, such as those used by the majority of faculty and staff, are replaced, <em>upon request<\/em>,\u00a0<strong>on an &#8220;as needed&#8221; basis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Computer replacement requests<\/strong><br \/>\nFaculty and staff who would like to have their computer evaluated for upgrade or replacement may contact the IT Service Center.
