{"id":9991,"date":"2022-06-29T12:30:41","date_gmt":"2022-06-29T12:30:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/2022\/06\/28\/dr-penelope-orr-earns-second-prestigious-fulbright-award\/"},"modified":"2022-09-07T15:49:07","modified_gmt":"2022-09-07T19:49:07","slug":"dr-penelope-orr-earns-second-prestigious-fulbright-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/dr-penelope-orr-earns-second-prestigious-fulbright-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Penelope Orr earns second prestigious Fulbright Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Furman University studio art alumna Penelope Orr &#8217;90, clinical coordinator of Edinboro University&#8217;s nationally acclaimed art therapy program, has received a Fulbright Award to launch a corresponding graduate-level program in India &#8211; the country&#8217;s first.<\/p>\n<p>Orr, who served a critical role in creating the Master of Arts in Counseling \u2013 Art Therapy program at Edinboro (soon to be known as Pennsylvania Western University), earned the Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship to establish the program at MIT Art, Design &amp; Technology University in Pune, Maharashtra.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo graduate programs in art therapy currently exist in India, and it is often impossible for people in India to afford a U.S. or UK education,\u201d Orr said in an article appearing on <a href=\"https:\/\/talkerie.com\/2022\/06\/22\/dr-penelope-orr-earns-second-prestigious-fulbright-award\/\">TalkErie.com<\/a>.
