{"id":9898,"date":"2022-05-11T18:09:28","date_gmt":"2022-05-11T22:09:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/2022\/05\/13\/gallery-artisphere-lights-up-downtown-greenville\/"},"modified":"2022-11-06T18:14:15","modified_gmt":"2022-11-06T23:14:15","slug":"gallery-artisphere-lights-up-downtown-greenville","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/gallery-artisphere-lights-up-downtown-greenville\/","title":{"rendered":"GALLERY: Artisphere lights up downtown Greenville"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When colorful booths popped up on South Main Street, vibrant fabric swaddled the Eugenia Duke Bridge and the aromas of food hung in the air, Greenvillians knew it must be the first weekend of May \u2013 time for <a href=\"https:\/\/artisphere.org\/\">Artisphere<\/a>, consistently ranked one of the country\u2019s top arts festivals.<\/p>\n<p>The 18<sup>th<\/sup> Artisphere, held May 6-8, showcased more than 100 visual artists on Artist\u2019s Row, selected from a group of 828 applicants from 28 states. Exhibiting for this first time this year was <a href=\"https:\/\/katherineirvinart.com\/\">painter Katherine Irvin<\/a>, assistant director of creative services for University Communications. The Furman University Performance Plaza featured entertainment from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/academics\/music\/bands\/jazz-studies\/\">Furman Faculty Jazz Quartet<\/a>, Centre Stage, South Carolina Children\u2019s Theatre, the Greenville Textile Heritage Band and Glow Lyric Theatre, among many others.<\/p>\n<p>The Culinary Arts Caf\u00e9 on the Main Street Bridge served up favorites from local eateries, and the Arts &amp; Drafts event had spectators sipping craft beers and watching muralists in action.
