{"id":9882,"date":"1970-01-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"1970-01-01T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/2022\/05\/04\/commencement-update-commencement-ceremony-moved-to-timmons-arena\/"},"modified":"2022-09-07T15:47:44","modified_gmt":"2022-09-07T19:47:44","slug":"commencement-update-commencement-ceremony-moved-to-timmons-arena","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/commencement-update-commencement-ceremony-moved-to-timmons-arena\/","title":{"rendered":"COMMENCEMENT UPDATE: Commencement Ceremony moved to Timmons Arena"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Due to inclement weather and the forecast for rain, <strong>commencement exercises scheduled for Paladin Stadium at 7:30 p.m. tonight will now take place in Timmons Arena<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Students will still partake in the traditional march down the mall and should report to McAlister Auditorium at 6:15 p.m. as originally planned.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty and the platform party will still need to report to the Herring Suite at Timmons at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/viewcommencement\">streaming video broadcast<\/a> of commencement will be available in McAlister Auditorium, which seats approximately 1,850 people.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Six guest tickets for the rain site were issued to each degree candidate at rehearsal on Friday afternoon.<\/strong> Students should direct their guests to enter through the main doors to the arena, which will open at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty, graduates and singers are to park in the Chapel Lot South (between the chapel and football stadium).<\/p>\n<p>Any additional weather updates will be provided through Furman\u2019s campus alert systems and posted on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/\">Furman home page<\/a>.
