{"id":9787,"date":"2022-03-02T15:53:23","date_gmt":"2022-03-02T15:53:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/2022\/03\/02\/gallery-black-history-month-2022-yard-show-celebration\/"},"modified":"2022-09-07T15:46:39","modified_gmt":"2022-09-07T19:46:39","slug":"gallery-black-history-month-2022-yard-show-celebration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/gallery-black-history-month-2022-yard-show-celebration\/","title":{"rendered":"GALLERY: Black History Month 2022 Yard Show Celebration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"s3\">On Friday, the Yard Show Celebration allowed students to experience one facet of<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0Black culture \u2013 the yard show.<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> Furman&#8217;s two Black Greek Letter Organizations, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., performed\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\">alongside <\/span><span class=\"s2\">organizations from surrounding institutions at the\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\">Joseph Vaughn Plaza. A yard show is a display of Black Greek organizations&#8217; steps and strolls, each a form of dance that expresses members&#8217; pride and involvement in their chapter and organization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">The celebration was h<\/span><span class=\"s2\">osted by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the Student Diversity Council, the\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\">NAACP, the Student League for Black Culture, and the Center for Inclusive Communities. Students enjoyed events throughout Black History Month, including one that focused on the significance of the Black Panther movement, a panel discussion about Black Greek organizations, a reflective walk, a Black Girl Enneagram workshop and several others.
