Among them is Furman University&#8217;s Laura Bain &#8217;02, associate director of sustainability assessment at The Shi Institute for Sustainable Communities.<\/p>\n<p>Bain, who partners with the city to shape SustainableGVL, said, \u201cI think the most important thing I can do to contribute is help people understand where they fit in the conversation. It\u2019s important we think about what we\u2019re leaving our kids. I have a 5-year-old daughter, and it helps me see the importance of what I\u2019m leaving her &#8211; what we can fix now, and what she\u2019ll need to fix later.
