Students also watched a video \u201cThe Renaissance Man,\u201d which\u00a0is about <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/FurmanMagazineFall19.pdf#page=44\">Max and Trude Heller\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> escape from Austria during the Holocaust and the contributions the couple made to the modernization and evolution of downtown Greenville, South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>As part of a reflection activity, students thought about the ways society can work to ensure an event similar to the Holocaust never occurs again. Students wrote their ideas on paper butterflies, which symbolize hope and rebirth often associated with the Holocaust.
