On Jan. 14, Cullen, a 1971 Furman University graduate and former member of the Furman Board of Trustees, will step away from law firm McGuireWoods, where he serves as chairman and has enjoyed a 45-year career.<\/p>\n<p>Joining McGuireWoods in 1977, Cullen served as U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia from 1991 to 1994, and from 1997 to 1998, as Virginia attorney general.<\/p>\n<p>Cullen majored in political science and played varsity football at Furman. In 1977, he received a law degree from the University of Richmond, where he was editor-in-chief of the law review and a member of ODK. In 1998, he was awarded the University of Richmond Distinguished Alumni Award.
