Wednesday, Sept. 22, marked the seventh anniversary of the alleged hazing-related death of Clemson University student Tucker Hipps who fell from a bridge during an early morning run with fraternity pledges.<\/p>\n<p>Along with Hobbie, Hipps&#8217; cousin, Furman communication studies major Rachael Vasquez &#8217;22, was interviewed by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www-wyff4-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/www.wyff4.com\/amp\/article\/upstate-students-start-petition-calling-for-reform-to-south-carolina-hazing-legislation\/37712135\">WYFF News4<\/a><\/strong>. She said it will take more than legislation to curb hazing events on campuses.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s going to first start with [students] standing up for their peers,\u201d Vasquez said.<\/p>\n<p>At last count, Hobbie&#8217;s petition has garnered 900 signatures.
